Trust, anchored in physics.
Global Battery Trust Chain builds hardware-attested trust infrastructure for the physical-to-digital boundary — proving that digital data faithfully represents physical reality, from the moment it is born.

The physical-to-digital trust deficit
When a physical event becomes digital data, something critical is lost: proof. A battery's state of health, a kilowatt-hour of clean energy, a verified carbon reduction — today, all of these enter the digital world on faith. Software can be manipulated. Records can be reconstructed after the fact. Estimates stand in for measurement.
Software can be manipulated
Battery passports and carbon claims are populated from supplier spreadsheets. Nothing in the chain is independently measured.
No physical anchor
Cell chemistry, material origin and process energy leave no verifiable trace once a pack is assembled.
Unauditable at scale
Standards bodies and funds cannot sample-test at gigafactory volume with laboratory methods alone.

Hardware-attested evidence, from birth
GBTC's platform — codenamed Ludwig — establishes trust at the precise point where a physical event first becomes digital data.
Physical identity
Every physical asset carries a unique, unclonable signature in its own material properties. Ludwig measures that signature in hardware — an identity no software can forge and no adversary can duplicate.
Measurement integrity
Calibrated sensing and a precision hardware clock capture each physical event — every watt, every state change — timestamped at the edge, before any software or network can intervene.
Attestation integrity
A hardware security element cryptographically signs every data packet at its origin. From that moment forward, the evidence is tamper-evident: any alteration, anywhere downstream, is detectable.
Ludwig is named for Ludwig Boltzmann, whose entropy equation revealed that every physical system carries a unique statistical signature. We measure that signature in hardware.

Where trusted evidence changes everything

Carbon markets & digital MRV
Carbon standards bodies
Carbon standards bodies worldwide are moving to digital monitoring, reporting and verification with near-real-time crediting. Hardware-attested evidence closes the gap between the sensor and the registry — the layer every dMRV platform depends on but does not itself provide.
Sovereign development funds
Independent assurance that financed clean energy capacity meets the material and emissions terms of the mandate — proven at the physical layer, not declared after the fact.

Energy access
Grid and storage operators
Across off-grid communities, clean electricity is displacing kerosene, diesel and biomass — but the carbon value of that transition is lost to slow, manual verification. Hardware-attested metering turns every clean energy event into verifiable evidence, enabling carbon finance to reach the communities generating it.

Battery lifecycle & circular economy
Battery manufacturers
Regulatory frameworks, led by the EU Battery Passport, now demand dynamic, tamper-evident battery telemetry. Verified state-of-health data reprices the global second-life battery market and anchors the circular economy in measurement rather than declaration.
Recyclers and second-life
Verified lifecycle history for packs arriving without reliable documentation.
Five steps, from raw material to a record that holds up.
Physical-world evidence, becoming verifiable value.
- 01
A physical event occurs
An off-grid household cooks on a solar-charged battery. A battery cell completes a charge cycle. A physical event happens in the real world.
- 02
It is measured
Every watt is metered, every reading timestamped in hardware — at the edge, before any software or network can intervene.
- 03
It is signed at the edge
A hardware security element cryptographically seals the data packet at its origin — tamper-evident from the moment it is born.
- 04
It is transmitted
Signed packets are transmitted via satellite where no terrestrial network exists — with local buffering preserves the signed evidence chain through connectivity gaps.
- 05
It is verified
The evidence chain is preserved in a sovereign registry, auditable end-to-end by carbon standards bodies, regulators, and financiers.
